27th Parliamentary-Intelligence Security Forum – Keynote Remarks

Mr. J.C. Boggs opened the session by welcoming participants and thanking Robert and Lucas for organizing the event, noting the effort behind bringing together such a distinguished gathering. He highlighted that the day’s discussions would focus on the Indo-Pacific region, an area of growing global importance for parliamentarians and policymakers.

He introduced Bill Hagerty, describing him as a seasoned businessman with experience at Boston Consulting Group, private equity, and venture capital across five continents before entering public service. He also noted Hagerty’s tenure as U.S. Ambassador to Japan under the Trump administration and his current service in the U.S. Senate, including roles on the Banking, Appropriations, Rules, and Foreign Relations Committees. He concluded by emphasizing the strong lineup for the session, including congressional and global economic leaders, and invited Senator Hagerty to formally kick off the program.
